Better Days..

So Gretsch found out about this car, it's a 1957 Cadillac Seville. It's seen better days for sure. For the most part it's all there, the rear bumpers are missing, which is one of the coolest parts on this car if you see one restored. It really is a beautiful car still, just bent and beat up. It really made me see how lucky I am that my Buick isn't in worse shape. It's too bad it was neglected for so long, these cars look incredible when they are treated right. Hopefully someone will save it.

Past few days..

It has been a long week, I haven't really had a lot of free time. So here is what I have been up too.

School is going alright, my first semester since I left the Army is almost over. I am doing pretty well. It is already time to register for the next semester. I have no idea what I am going to take next.

The cats are doing well, we had them in to get them both fixed and declawed, I feel sorry for them, the antibiotics they are on make them both gassy. Ouisy was gassy to begin with but now Blammo is cutting the most foul farts ever. These aren't little silent ones either, these are audible, stinky ones.

Gretsch and I drove the Buick over to his Dad's house the other day to take a look at some parts for my car. I am not going to say much about that now, but keep on the look out because I am going to write more about it in the future. I did get my electric wiper motor on the other day. I really wanted to keep the original vacuum wiper motor on there but since this car is my daily driver and not a museum peice I felt I needed more dependability. Driving to school in the pouring rain with semi-functional wipers was not fun. I look at it like this. I could drive it with no wipers and crash it, or I could just update it and not worry about it again. Gretsch's Dad made some pretty good suggestions about a few things, and I am really coming around to the idea of updating some things with the car.

I should have done this sooner..

I should have posted about going to see Hall & Oates sooner, but I have been busy finishing my research paper for school.

Sunday night at the Pensacola Civic Center was pretty great. Walking in I was surprised at how small the whole setup was. There were curtains blocking more than half of the Civic Center, if I had to guessI would say they might have been using a third of the entire place. It was nice, because we were on the forth row, nearly center stage. Our seats were good, but I don't think anyone had a bad seat since the set was so small.

We arrived around 7:40, the guy opening for them was already on stage. He said his name a few times but I couldn't really understand it, He was talented, but his style of music bored me, it sounded like Jack Johnson but it wasn't him..you could have interchanged the two..He wasn't doing anything special at all.

The tickets said 8:00 PM and I would have to say I have never seen a band go on when they are supposed to, until now. It was pretty awesome to see these guys who I had seen on MTV while I was a kid come out on stage, and on time. John Oates was one of the first guys out on the stage, he is shorter than I had imagined, still the same hair from the 80's. The only thing missing is the mustache. Daryl Hall came out and said a few words about the intimate atmosphere. I wonder what it's like going from being the 4th most popular act of the 80's(behind Madonna,Michael Jackson, and Prince) to playing to a fairly small crowd in Pensacola. I mean don't get me wrong, I didn't feel like I was seeing Great White perform in some doomed club, I wouldn't call them washed up, but where have they been for the last twenty years. I was sad for a moment because here is one of the most talented groups I have ever heard, and when you turn on the radio today what do you hear? Shit like Schwayze and Chemical Romance. Where did all the good music go? I am getting off topic. The first song they started to play was Maneater and I was really blown away, I have seen a lot of bands live and a lot of bands do not sound like their recordings, but Daryl Hall's voice is amazing even after all these years.

They played for nearly two hours before leaving the stage, then came back for two encores. It was a pretty outstanding evening.

It's Friday

So the weather has been a major complaint of mine since I started this thing, the weather has been horrible. I don't really mind being in the rain, like being rained on. When I was in Iraq I learned to love rain, but now that I have my 55 Buick, the rain is my enemy. My windshield wipers are vacuum powered, original to the car and they are not very dependable. So I have been stuck at home when the rain is coming down.

I love my car, and I love driving it, so I ordered a kit to convert to an electric wiper motor, I really don't want to change a lot about my car, I just want to drive it.
